CRYPTIK SKATEBOARD DECKS | PART I

CRYPTIK SKATEBOARD DECKS | PART I
These custom CRYPTIK Skatedboard Decks are 100% silk-screen printed by hand, like they used to be done back in the day, and quite frankly, the ONLY way they should be done...none of this vinyl heat transfer BULLSHIT. When I was growing up, skateboards were considered a piece of ART! Each deck had it's own flavor, nuances and imperfections, which is what made it special...it was a one-of-a-kind in a way! In this first series, we showcase 3 of the Movement's most popular graphics: the BUDDHA, the BUDDHA PALM & LORD GANESHA, all printed in metallic gold! For the top graphic, we used our official COAT OF ARMS. There are only 10 decks/design, so quantities are super limited.

I definitely want to send a BIG shout to our friends over at PS STIX in Costa Mesa for killin' these decks! Much Love & Respect from the Movement!

Stay tuned for PART II...

A CALL TO ACTION | BNE Water Foundation

A CALL TO ACTION | BNE Water Foundation
As many of you know, since early 2011 we have been working really hard to launch the BNE Water Foundation (known as Yayasan BNE in Indonesia), a non-profit organization like no other. To get this far, it has taken almost eight months of bureaucracy, a lot of hard work and about $50,000. We are now an official NPO and this is the start of what I feel is a true platform for real social change. Much like graffiti in its purest form, this is something real and very raw that was born in the streets.

Many generous artists including Estevan Oriol, Sabe KST, INSA, Shepard Fairey and others have come on board, they are among the first to have donated artwork. People have also started to support by donating cash and buying sticker sets which is much appreciated. What bothers me is that I have been hearing many people say things like, “That’s really cool what YOU are doing” or “good luck with YOUR project.” This disturbs me and makes me think that most of you really do not understand my intentions. I have funded this project for the most part by myself and will continue to do so for as long as it takes, but this is not something that I can do alone. I am simply donating my name, ideas, time and money to set this off. This was never meant to be MY project, this is something for the people. My intentions were to create something that everyone could participate in, and something that everyone could benefit from. I CANNOT DO THIS ALONE. The most I can do is give all of you the platform and opportunity to create something truly revolutionary. Without all of you, this will not work.

"ART AS A WEAPON" | KICKSTARTER

ART AS A WEAPON DOCUMENTARY | By Jeff Durkin

An original documentary mixing art, politics, religion and war. Everything that makes us human. - Jeff Durkin / Director

"Art as a weapon" will look at the connection between street Art, Buddhism and the struggle for Democracy by using the closed country of Burma as a case study. The film will follow a Buddhist monk poet who is building a library, artist Shepard Fairey painting a 30' tall mural, and an elementary school art class learning how to use spray paint - giving the audience a peek into the lives of artists and how art has the power to move people. Interviews include Shepard Fairey and Nobel peace prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi.

This will be a "connections film," looking at the collision between the big forces that shape humanity - Art, Politics, and Religion in both the eastern and western worlds. By combining beautiful cinematography with Buddhist philosophy, the project will illustrate the power that Art has in the bloody fight for Democracy. Part art film, part political film, the goal is to continue spreading the word by using art as a weapon for peace in Burma.

Please help support our friend, Jeff Durkin, in reaching his Kickstarter goal to make this incredible film. He's really close , but with your support he'll be able to make this film a reality. Thank You!
