CRYPTIK INSTALLATION | NIKE VAULT
I was recently invited by Nike to do an on-site commission at the Nike Vault store, located inside the Staples Center in Downtown, Los Angeles. Our main goal was to find a way to express the legacy of Los Angeles basketball through the language of public art. Using torn wheat-pasted posters as a backdrop, we chose several slogans that told the story of LA Basketball, such as "DEFY THE RULES" & "CREATE A LEGACY," which I then hand-painted in repetition over the posters. Also, the wall was meant to serve as more of a backdrop, so we had to tone it way back and keep it somewhat subtle to give the store some flexibility with their various events.
