L.A. ART MACHINE | INTERNATIONAL URBAN ART FESTIVAL

L.A. ART MACHINE | INTERNATIONAL URBAN ART FESTIVAL

Please join L.A. ART MACHINE, in collaboration with FIND Art Magazine, and STROKE Urban Art Fair, this Saturday October 8th, 11am - 9pm at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes (LA Plaza) - for a celebration in the park!

501 North Main Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Against the backdrop of LA Plaza, historical structures and greenways will merge into the city streets themselves, paralleling the endemic emergence of street art as an artistic form that continues to shape and inspire artists and city-dwellers alike.   Paying homage to LA’s status as a street art capital, while acknowledging the movement’s global influence, this kick-off celebration presents the multi-faceted forms of urban art. Programming will unfold into a moving environment of live painting, outdoor installations, music, food, dance, performance and other forms of urban expression.

What is Urban Art?  As a recently recognized artistic movement, we can think of Urban Art as a style of art that relates to cities and city life often done by artists who live in or have a passion for city living. In that way, it combines street art and graffiti and is often summarized as all visual art forms arising in urban and public spaces, taking the forms of video projection, art intervention, flash mobbing, street installations, urbanism, and other forms arising from an appreciation of urban living and our cities themselves.   In effect, the artwork becomes part of the city landscape itself.

Enjoy a day in the city center of one of the world’s most energetic and complex metropolises with the artists who shape and inspire its landscape.

This outdoor event is free to the public though donations are welcome.  LA Plaza galleries will be open from 12pm to 7pm: admission is $9.00 adults, $5.00 child.

Featured participants and artists include live painting by Abcnt, Chor Boogie, Codak, Cryptik, Hans Haveron, and Mear One; performance by Amy Kaps and Sheron Wray, and site specific installation with Jennifer Vanderpool; Ketchup Soup; Mileece; SPARC, and others.
