CRYPTIK INSTALLATION | NIKE VAULT
I was recently invited by Nike to do an on-site commission at the Nike Vault store, located inside the Staples Center in Downtown, Los Angeles. Our main goal was to find a way to express the legacy of Los Angeles basketball through the language of public art. Using torn wheat-pasted posters as a backdrop, we chose several slogans that told the story of LA Basketball, such as "DEFY THE RULES" & "CREATE A LEGACY," which I then hand-painted in repetition over the posters. Also, the wall was meant to serve as more of a backdrop, so we had to tone it way back and keep it somewhat subtle to give the store some flexibility with their various events. Big thanks to David, Kristen, and Dina at Nike and everyone at the Vault for the opportunity. Lastly, Biggup mah bredren DJ, POSTAS, & BEI RU for always holdin' me down. Hope y'all enjoy.
